Hosted by the Hodge Foundation and the Cardiff University's Neuroscience and Mental Health Innovation Institute, this year's Hodge Foundation public lecture will be given by Professor Oliver Howes.
Oliver Howes is Professor of Molecular Psychiatry at King’s and Imperial Colleges London, Head of the Department of Psychosis Studies, and a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital.
His research focuses on understanding the biological basis of mental illness and developing improved treatments, particularly in schizophrenia. He has published over 400 scientific papers and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, recognised as one of the world’s most influential researchers.
In this lecture, Professor Howes will explore why so few new treatments for mental illness have been developed and discuss lessons from schizophrenia research to highlight new approaches for improving future medicines.
