Oliver Howes is Professor of Molecular Psychiatry at King’s and Imperial Colleges London, Head of the Department of Psychosis Studies, and a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital.

He has published over 400 scientific papers and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, recognised as one of the world’s most influential researchers.

In this lecture, Professor Howes will explore why so few new treatments for mental illness have been developed and discuss lessons from schizophrenia research to highlight new approaches for improving future medicines.
