A celebration of the River Taff through stories, memory, nature and place
What does a river remember?
Join writer and artist Dr Nasia Sarwar-Skuse for a special gathering celebrating the River Taff, its histories, its wildlife, its communities and the many stories held along its course.
As Writer in Residence with Literature Wales and WWF Cymru, Nasia has spent 2026 travelling along the Taff, listening to the river and to the people who live, work and gather alongside it.
The River as Archive considers the Taff as a living record: of journeys and belonging, industry and extraction, flooding and repair, memory and loss, and the human and more-than-human lives connected to the river.
The event will bring together storytelling, poetry, conversation and reflections from the residency, with contributions and perspectives connected to the river’s ecology and wildlife, including The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales.
It is an opportunity to gather beside the river, think about what it has witnessed, and consider what we might learn from it about the places we inhabit and the future we share.
Whether you know the Taff intimately or are simply curious about the river that runs through Cardiff, you are warmly invited. Please bring with you a fresh flower for the river blessing ceremony.
Come and listen.
Come and share a story.
Come and think with the river.
