A community tree planting event will be held at Caerwen Farm in Pentyrch on 18 November 2026 at 10:00 as part of Cardiff Council's Coed Caerdydd project. Tickets are free, and the activity includes woodland and hedgerow planting with guidance provided for all ages.

Activity details:
We will be holding a community tree planting event as part of Cardiff Council's Coed Caerdydd project.
This is a great opportunity to create beautiful environments for people and nature and contribute towards Cardiff’s climate emergency response.
All ages welcome and no experience necessary, we will guide you through the tree planting process.
All site events are risk assessed by staff with appropriate training. It is your responsibility to inform Coed Caerdydd of any specific needs within the group such as a disability or medical condition that affect the activities.
Please note the site is very steep with uneven terrain.

If coming via car it is recommended to travel via Pentyrch village (it is possible to access from Gwaelod Y Garth side but very tricky hairpin bend part way up – however, if walking it is a lovely route).
* Follow Heol Goch through Pentyrch,
* Turn right onto Mountain Road,
* Turn right onto Garth Hill (by Pinecroft Cattery),
* Follow road past the cottages,
* Continue for approximately 500m and you will see a layby for parking on your left.
The layby is right by the gate accessing the planting area.
Alternatively you can park in Gwaelod or Pentyrch villages and walk to site (approximately 20 minutes each way).
What to bring and facilities:
Trees and tools will be provided.
Please bring any drinks and snacks / food with you.
Please wear sensible shoes (i.e. boots or wellies), wrap up warm, and bring waterproofs. Please bring your own gloves if possible, we can provide extra. Gloves must be worn when using communal tools.
Please note there will be no formal toilet facilities on the day.
