We will explore how and where we marginalize and are marginalised. How do we, frame those processes which of necessity are of-the-field?

I have a large pond in my garden and a variety of those pond plants known as ‘Marginals’. They are, of course, plants suitable for planting in that somewhat indeterminate area where the water and pond perimeter meet. In some ways they are the most vulnerable plants in my pond, since when the water level drops, as it has done a lot recently with the changes to the climate in my Worcestershire home, they are most at risk of drying out and dying.

And much the same can be said of those who live at the margins of our societies.

In this workshop, we will explore this further: how and where we marginalize and are marginalised. How do we, as gestalt practitioners, frame those processes, which of necessity are of-the-field? This will be primarily an experiential exploration. I invite you to think of, or actively look for, novels that describe this experience or are take place in a marginal setting. One that I am reading at the moment in that uncanny timely way, as I didn’t know it was about this when I bought it, is Gliff, by Ali Smith.
