Come and discover the previously-untold and moving story of the hundreds of children who were cared for in the Chester branch of London’s Foundling Hospital in the eighteenth century.

Foundlings were children, often illegitimate, who had been abandoned as babies by their parents or who risked being so. In this poignant talk, author Dr. Anthony Annakin-Smith looks at the experiences of the children before, during and after their years of care by the ground-breaking Foundling Hospital, including how they were looked after in Chester’s Bluecoat building and surrounding villages.

The talk is approximately an hour from 11am- 12pm to be followed by questions and a book signing.

On arrival at the Bluecoat building, go up the central path and under the archway to Door 3. Press the bottom buzzer ‘Bluecoat General Enquiries’ and a member of The Chester Bluecoat Charity staff will give you access into the building.
