Diwali at Coventry Charterhouse will be celebrated on 7 November 2026, featuring the Festival of Light. Attendees can follow the story of Rama and Sita through a lit garden, enjoy a musical performance, and participate in a Bhangra Ceilidh. The event will commence with a lamp lighting ceremony.
Join us at Coventry Charterhouse to celebrate the Festival of Light and hear the story of Rama and Sita as you follow the events through the lit up walled garden, told by Mahandra Patel. Then enjoy the musical performance of East meets West, put together by Srividya Venkat and her accompanists and then take part in the Bhangra Ceilidh, run by the English Folk Dance and Song Society and Keda Music.
The event will open with a lamp lighting ceremony at 4pm, and from there the story will whisk you through the walled garden.
East Meets West will involve string and percussion instrumentalists performing in a concert format with select pieces and exploring their own creative space. Srividya Venkat is an Indian Classical violinist based out of Rugby.
Bhangra Ceilidh - under band leader and composer Kuljit Bhamra MBE, with a dazzling lineup of musicians, the live sounds of tabla and percussion (Kuljit Bhamra), melodeon (Hazel Askew), and more come alive in this cross-cultural aural treat. Featuring specially composed tunes drawing from both vibrant traditions, and designed to get people dancing!
