Share your views on the future of Walter Parker VC Memorial Square at our stakeholder workshop.

Broxtowe Borough Council is developing proposals to improve Walter Parker VC Memorial Square on Derby Road. The project aims to create a welcoming, accessible and flexible public space that meets the needs of Stapleford both now and in the future.

The War Memorial, the Walter Parker VC Memorial Stone and the other memorial features within the square are important to the town and will be retained. We want to explore how these can be given a more fitting setting through a redesigned public space that reflects the needs and aspirations of the local community.

Our ambition is to create a square that works harder for Stapleford. The new design should support markets, community events, remembrance activities and everyday use, while improving accessibility for wheelchair users, people with pushchairs, and anyone who finds steps or sloping surfaces difficult to navigate.

This workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss local priorities, opportunities and constraints, and to share ideas and concerns that will help inform the emerging design proposals.

Feedback from this early engagement will help shape the design options, which will be shared with the wider public when we engage with them later in the year.
