Chomp & Stomp - Woodland Walk with Fireside Food
Join us for a relaxed and welcoming 2.5-hour experience combining fireside food, nature, and the hidden history of the woods.
The September Stomp and Chomp session begins at the woodland parking area at 6pm (directions provided with booking confirmation) where you will be welcomed by Kate. You will then set off on a guided walk through the woodland as you learn some of the fascinating history of the Grith Pioneers - stewards of the woodland since the 1930's.
At about 7:30 you will arrive at the campfire area where there will be a tasty vegetable soup waiting for you as you take a rest.
(The food is suitable for vegetarians. Please feel free to bring your own food if you prefer.)
As night draws in at the campfire we will explore the area with uv torches to see what can be found fluorescing in the darkness before returning together to the car park area for 8:30
Please bring any drinks that you might want during the session and a torch for the walk back to the cars after dark.
This small-group experience is designed to help you slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy a unique evening outdoors in beautiful surroundings.
(Good to know: there is a composting toilet available whilst at the campfire area!)
Who is this walk for?
Please be aware that this is a longer woodland walk over uneven terrain, participants should be comfortable walking for over an hour.
There are some steep areas along this walk which can be slippery in wet weather. There are brambles and nettles along the narrow areas. So dress appropriately with sturdy footwear.
Unfortunately the route is not suitable for wheelchairs or for people with limited mobility.
This session is aimed at adults. You are welcome to book for children to come along with you, but due to the lengthy walk we strongly recommend that it is suitable for 10 years and over.
Whether you come alone, with a friend or family, you’ll be warmly welcomed.
What’s included:
Guided woodland walk
Fireside soup
Small friendly group (maximum 10 people)
2.5-hour outdoor experience in ancient woodland
How to find us:

When you arrive at the private woodland car park (see directions in booking confirmation) you will see a chain across the path and wheelbarrows to the right. Walk past these barrows and continue along the path for about ten minutes. When you reach an old hut on your right, you will then see us on the left, up a couple of steps at the firepit area.
REFUNDS: Please be aware that we are unable to refund tickets with less than 7 days notice. For refunds issued with more than 7 days notice, we are unable to refund the Eventbrite booking fees.
To ensure safety for all participants and leaders, a session can be cancelled or postponed by Woodland Connections at very short notice due to forecast high winds or thunderstorms.
