The Dublin Weird Girl Society will host a meet-up at the Museum of Curiosities on 12 September 2026. The event is free to attend, designed for participants aged 25 and over.
Come spend a Saturday with us! Please read ticket information below carefully ‼️
Come spend a very Weird Girl Saturday with us. 🖤 25+ , girl/non binary only.
We're heading to The Museum of Curiosities, Dublin's wonderfully strange little cabinet of oddities, featuring everything from bizarre taxidermy and mummified remains to haunted dolls, Victorian relics and all manner of wonderfully unsettling objects. The museum is a two-floor collection and a typical visit lasts around 40–60 minutes.
Afterwards, we'll make our way towards Merrion Square Park for a little Weird Girl picnic... weather permitting, obviously, because we are in Ireland and therefore ultimately answer to the sky.
Bring along:
📚 A book you're ready to rehome: we'll have our own little book swap!
🍓 A nibble to share: homemade, shop-bought, weird, wonderful, sweet, savoury… whatever you fancy.
HOW TICKETS WORK (READ CAREFULLY!)
Because of how the museum handles bookings, we have a two-tier system for this event:
* Tier 1: The Whole Day (Tour + Picnic)
CRITICAL STEP: You must purchase your own museum admission directly from the Museum of Curiosities website FIRST, before purchasing the Weird Girl Society Eventbrite ticket. Please make sure you choose the 1pm-2pm times lot. The museum handles its own admission and we don't currently have a group booking arrangement with them, so I can't guarantee museum availability beyond the tickets currently showing on their website. Tickets cost €15, and is €13 for seniors & students.
I've initially capped the museum-attending Weird Girl tickets at 9 people, as the museum hasn't confirmed how many admissions they can accommodate as a group.
If our 9 Eventbrite museum places appear to be sold out, DON'T PANIC! Please check the Museum of Curiosities website directly. If they still have individual museum tickets available for our date/time, you can purchase one there and then message me to let me know you're attending. I'll keep an eye on numbers and update everyone accordingly.
* Tier 2: picnic and bookswap ONLY.
After the Museum of Curiosities, we'll make our way to Merrion Square Park for a relaxed Weird Girl picnic, book swap and coven meeting (fun & chats).
This ticket is for those who wish to join the picnic and bookswap ONLY. 🌱
ACCESSIBILITY & SENSORY NOTICE ♿
We want everyone to feel safe, comfortable, and included. Here is a breakdown of what tc expect structurally and sensorially throughout the meetup:
MUSEUM OF CURIOSITIES
Please be aware that the Museum of Curiosities is not wheelchair accessible.
The museum is spread over two floors, with stairs and narrow passages and no lift. There is step-free access into the building, but the upper floor cannot be accessed by wheelchair. The museum also has limited space between displays and very limited seating. There is no accessible toilet.
If you have mobility requirements, chronic pain, fatigue or another condition that may make stairs or standing difficult, please consider this before purchasing your museum ticket.
If you're unsure whether the museum environment will work for you, you're very welcome to message me before booking and I'll help you work out what might be manageable.
Sensory Information:
The environment is also:
Dimly lit in places, visually busy, with lots of objects and displays, narrow in places, meaning personal space may be limited. Stair-heavy between floors, and primarily standing/walking, with limited seating.
If you're prone to sensory overwhelm, earplugs, headphones, sunglasses or another sensory aid are absolutely welcome.
READY TO JOIN US?
Please read the ticket information above carefully before booking, and if anything is confusing, message us before purchasing your museum ticket. We would much rather help than have anyone accidentally book the wrong thing! Follow us on Instagram @dublinweirdgirlsociety.
The idea is simply to spend a few hours eating, reading, chatting, swapping books and romanticising the tiny moments together. You don't need to know anyone beforehand and there's absolutely no expectation to be "social enough". Come as you are. 🌱
☀️ IF THE WEATHER IS GOOD:
We'll head to Merrion Square Park after the museum for our picnic.
Bring a blanket if you have one, some food/nibbles to share and a book you'd like to pass on to another Weird Girl.
We'll have our own little book swap, chat, eat, wander and generally romanticise our existence.
🌧️ IF THE WEATHER IS HORRENDOUS:
The picnic will become a cosy coffee shop hangout instead.
I'll make the final call closer to the date and let everyone know where we're heading.
Please don't worry about having to bring picnic food if the weather changes - we'll let you know what the plan is beforehand.
