Atlantic Youth Trust is delighted to invite you to a very special fundraising evening as we officially welcome Pamela Lee as our new Ambassador and rally behind her campaign to compete in one of the world’s most iconic offshore sailing races, the Route du Rhum.

Pam is preparing to make history as the first Irish sailor to compete in the Route du Rhum, the legendary solo transatlantic race from Saint-Malo, France, to Guadeloupe.

She has the experience, determination and ambition. Now, as she enters the final stages of her campaign, we want to bring together Ireland’s sailing, business, sporting and wider community to help her get to the start line.

We’ll hear first-hand about her journey into professional offshore sailing, the years of preparation behind her Route du Rhum campaign, the highs and lows of competing internationally and the extraordinary physical, mental, technical and financial demands involved in solo ocean racing.

This is an opportunity to hear the story behind the headlines and to understand what it really takes to compete on the international stage.

During the evening, Pam will take part in an in-depth conversation exploring her journey to date. There will also be an opportunity to meet Pam, connect with fellow supporters and learn more about the work of Atlantic Youth Trust.

Her career demonstrates what can happen when ambition is combined with determination, preparation and the courage to step beyond conventional boundaries. Through her role as Ambassador, we look forward to sharing that experience with young people and inspiring the next generation to think bigger about where their own journeys might take them.

Her #EmpowHer campaign also carries an important message about visibility and opportunity for women in sailing and high-performance sport.

The Route du Rhum is one of the great challenges in international sailing. Held every four years, the solo transatlantic race brings together some of the world’s leading offshore sailors for an extraordinary journey across the Atlantic from Saint-Malo to Guadeloupe.

For Pam, reaching the start line represents years of work, racing, preparation and commitment.

But campaigns of this scale require significant resources. Boats need to be prepared, equipment maintained, race logistics coordinated and an extensive support structure put in place before a sailor can even leave the dock.

That is why this evening matters.

It is an opportunity for us to come together as a community and help support the final push towards Saint-Malo.
