Musician, author and biologist Bróna McVittie explores the enduring legacy of Ireland's supernatural folklore. Ireland's rich tradition of fairy lore has been preserved for generations through manuscripts, oral tradition and the work of dedicated collectors who recognised the importance of recording these remarkable stories. In this illustrated talk and live performance, Bróna McVittie explores the enduring legacy of Ireland's supernatural folklore, tracing the journey of tales from historical collections into contemporary music and literature. Drawing on stories from her anthology A Way with the Fairies and music from her companion album Supernatural , Bróna examines the cultural, historical and musical contexts behind some of Ireland's best-known fairy legends, including the work of nineteenth-century folklorists such as Sam Henry. Combining storytelling, discussion and live performance, this event celebrates Ireland's rich folkloric heritage and considers how these traditions continue to inspire new creative interpretations for modern audiences.
