New Experimental Guitar/Electronics Trio Hits Kilkenny for the AKA Festival

Brand new minimalist improv outfit The Church of What's Happening Now is hitting town for a mini series of gigs over 24 hours, and across two iconic and historical Kilkenny venues. The Church of What's Happening Now comprises prolific Dublin composer Matthew Nolan on electric guitar/electronics, alongside Jamie Davis (drums/percussion/other) and Damien Lennon (bass/bass VI), both from acclaimed improvising unit Zeropunkt. The trio take an experimentalist approach to ambient instrumental music, sometimes guitar based, sometimes electronics driven, always spatial, open and free - or "loud, quiet, loud" as Nolan puts it. The result is atmospheric and engrossing, somewhere between noise and soundbath.
