About This Event

Part of the Nature-Based Solutions Week: Creating a Climate Ready Tayside

Join the James Hutton Institute for a guided tour of Balruddery Farm, a LEAF Innovation Centre near Dundee, exploring how regenerative cropping and nature-based solutions can help create more sustainable and resilient farming systems.

The visit begins at the farm steading with an introduction to Balruddery Farm before heading to the Centre for Sustainable Cropping, where participants will learn about field-scale research investigating regenerative agroecological approaches to improve soil health, enhance biodiversity and minimise environmental impacts.

The tour will then continue to demonstrations of innovative 3D buffer systems and other nature-based solutions designed to reduce flood risk and improve environmental outcomes across wider catchments. This is an excellent opportunity to see practical examples of sustainable farming and landscape management in action.

Accessibility and What to Bring

This is an outdoor farm-based event which includes walking across rough and uneven ground. Participants should wear weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and reasonably sturdy footwear.

The initial discussion will take place from the farm track and is accessible to all visitors. The remainder of the tour involves walking around the site over uneven terrain.

Please note that only a portable toilet is available at the steading.

Dogs are not permitted on this event.
