About This Event

A book launch for Northern Saints in Holy Places takes place at the Cuthbert Centre for Pilgrimage and Prayer in Durham Cathedral on 1 October 2026. Admission is free for attendees. Various guests including Philip Plyming and Gavin Wakefield participate in the literary event.

Come and listen to Philip Plyming, Dean of Durham, and Gavin Wakefield, author and pilgrimage guide, in conversation about saints, pilgrimage and holy places. Gavin has written a new book on Northern Saints which takes the reader on a journey from Holy Island to the shrine of St Cuthbert in Durham. Along the way you will meet both well-known and unfamiliar saints in places they made holy by their lives. Following the conversation between Philip and Gavin, there will be a Q&A, followed by light refreshments and the chance to buy Gavin’s new book.
