FREE Learn to Ride & Cycle Confidence Sessions – SEND

Thanks to funding through the Swim Bike Run Project, in partnership with British Triathlon and Active Sunderland, Gateway Wheelers is offering FREE 1-to-1 Learn to Ride and Cycle Confidence sessions for disabled children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), aged 0–25.

Sessions take place on our safe, traffic-free cycling track in Houghton Rectory Park.

Whether you're taking your first pedal strokes, building confidence or learning to ride a bike or trike, our friendly, qualified coaches will help you progress at your own pace.

FREE 1-to-1 Learn to Ride sessions for beginners.

Cycle confidence sessions for those wanting to develop their skills.

A range of bikes, trikes and accessible cycles.

A safe, welcoming environment with no pressure.

Qualified cycling coaches with years of experience.

Sessions adapted to individual abilities and needs.

Important information

Cycles and helmets are available for cycle confidence sessions.

If learning to ride a two-wheeled bike, we recommend bringing your own bike where possible, as this often produces the best results.

A parent, carer or responsible adult must accompany children attending sessions.

Participants will need to complete a Gateway Wheelers online registration form. This only needs to be completed once.
