For over sixteen years, the Durham Festival of Remembrance has established itself as one of the North East's most significant acts of commemoration. Held within the historic surroundings of Durham Cathedral, the Festival brings together military and civilian communities to honour the service and sacrifice of generations who have served our nation. Organised by the Army Benevolent Fund , the British Army's national charity, this moving concert remembers those who gave their lives in service to their country and recognises the dedication of Service Personnel who continue to protect the freedoms we enjoy today. The Festival also raises vital funds to support soldiers, former soldiers and their immediate families when they face hardship, illness, injury or bereavement. The theme of this year's Festival of Remembrance is Freedom, Service, Duty . Through a powerful blend of music, narration and reflection, the Festival will explore the values that have shaped military service across generations.
