A 6.2-mile circular walk takes place on 13 October 2026, starting at 10:30am outside St Mary & St Peter's Church in Wilmington. Participants are advised to bring their own refreshments and consider car-sharing as public transport access is limited. The route includes several gentle climbs.
**Meeting Time :** 10.30am **Meeting Place :** Outside the gate of Wilmington Church, The Street, Wilmington **Distance:** 6.2miles **Getting there** **& Parking :** This walk is not easily accessible by public transport as the nearest station is Berwick which is 45/50 minutes walk. Hence it is suggested that those who do not have access to a car or a lift, post a request for a lift in the 'Comments' section. Parking, which is free, is best anywhere along the side of the road (which is narrow) as near to the church as possible. There is also a free car park by the Priory at the end of the village but it is small and can get full. **Elevation :** There are several long, steady but fairly gentle climbs. **Pace:** The pace will be inclusive but everyone is encouraged to keep up together as a group. **Refreshments:** Please bring food and drink for a coffee and lunch stop on the way. Refreshments available at the Long Man Inn at the top end of the village, at the end of the walk. **Loos :** At the pub at the end of the walk **Dogs** : Welcome if on a lead when there are livestock **Route**: This walk will take us up and then down into Jevington via Folkington, where we will stop in the churchyard for coffee. We will then climb slowly from Jevington up to the South Downs Way and follow this across the top of the Downs, stopping at the highest point for lunch and splendid views.
