The City Art Centre will host a major solo show by Ade Adesina on November 7, 2026. The exhibition will feature an expansive collection of printworks from the Aberdeen-based artist, who was born in 1980 and is originally from Nigeria.
We are pleased to present a major solo show by Aberdeen-based printmaker Ade Adesina (b.1980. Nigeria), bringing together an expansive collection of the artist’s monumental woodcuts, etchings, linocuts and screen-prints. Exploring urgent global themes, including climate change and colonial histories, Adesina draws from the past and present, to imagine possible futures. His works carefully balance beauty with a darker underbelly, revealing the impact of human intervention on the natural world. Informed by his African roots, combined with the influence of British culture and global travels, Adesina’s practice is steeped in the traditions of Fine Art printmaking. On first glance his work appears as classical landscapes or still lifes, however they invite and reward closer looking, as complex narratives and entangled iconography is revealed. The exhibition will contain a newly commissioned print produced specially for Edinburgh.
