Connective Parenting is available in person over two sessions at Penston House, Macmerry, Tranent, East Lothian. This family event offers an approach to parenting that may assist families whose traditional methods are proving difficult.
Connective Parenting is a tried and tested approach to parenting, where traditional parenting might not be working for your family.
Supporting parents and carers to build connected relationships with their child or children, this Connective Parenting workshop explores why traditional parenting approaches may not always feel effective for every family. It offers practical and compassionate ways to respond to challenging behaviour, including child-to-parent violence, while strengthening trust, connection and understanding at home. By attending, you’ll gain supportive strategies to help you manage difficult moments and nurture positive family relationships. The course is grounded in the principles of Non-Violent Resistance.
Topics we’ll cover include:
how strong connection can support your child’s emotional wellbeing and how to keep nurturing it
the core principles of the Non-Violent Resistance approach
practical strategies parents and carers can use at home to respond to challenging behaviour with confidence and care
It is delivered by our clinical psychologist in Scotland, aimed at adoptive parents.
This course is also appropriate for prospective adopters and foster or kinship carers
This is not a suitable course for professionals. Please contact us for details of the 'Connective parenting using the Principles of NVR for Professionals' course at training.scotland@adoptionuk.org.uk
