About This Event

Dance Base Festival presents *If I Can’t Dance I’m Not Coming*, a new collaboration between choreographer Karl Jay-Lewin and composer Matteo Fargion, on Tuesday 18 August 2026 at 14:40. This work reimagines Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent film *Metropolis* as a rigorous choreographic score, performed by an eclectic ensemble of eight dancers. Eschewing virtuosity in favour of dignity, the piece weaves together humour, rebellion and tenderness through a democratic creative process. The festival takes over Dance Base in Edinburgh with a broad programme of performances, workshops and events spanning multiple styles and artists.
