About This Event

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, running from 7 August 2026, features theatre, comedy, music, dance, circus and more across various venues in Edinburgh. The festival, which has been held annually for over 70 years, offers free performances and attracts performers from around the world.

See Edinburgh come alive with an exciting range of theatre, comedy, music, dance, circus and more with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. For over three weeks in August, the city welcomes an explosion of creative energy as artists and performers from across the world take to stages across the city to present shows for every taste. From well-known names to up-and-coming artists looking to establish their careers, the Fringe, as it’s affectionately known, has something for everyone. With theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children’s shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word and exhibitions all available, however you like your culture, there’s something for all the family here. This year’s bumper programme programme features 3,649 shows across 258 venues, making up 53,884 performances, with themes tackling some of the most topical issues being discussed in the world today, including artificial intelligence, cults, the manosphere, identity crisis, social class, Y2K nostalgia, the state of the world and resilience and hope. The world-famous Fringe Street Events will take place on the Royal Mile, Hunter Square and the Mound Precinct, and feature international street performers and buskers, mingling with Fringe artists and other festival favourites to provide a fun and varied family-friendly experience. The street events will run daily between 11am and 7pm from 07 to 30 August. BSL-interpreted street performances will take place on 09, 15 and 20 August at West Parliament Square. To ensure the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is as accessible to as many people as possible, a number of performances and events will be relaxed, BSL interpreted, captioned and audio described. See enhanced performances for full listings. Free sensory tools are available for anyone who may find the Fringe overwhelming. These can be picked up from Fringe Box Office on Old Assembly Close on the High Street, (next to the Fringe Shop) throughout August.
