About This Event

A curious cure for the brave… Delve into the strange and surprisingly scientific world of 17th-century medicine at The Real Mary King’s Close. This immersive experience uncovers the practices of Dr Arnott, one of the Close’s wealthiest and most intriguing former residents. A trained physician with a taste for the unconventional, Dr Arnott diagnosed his patients by examining their urine for colour, smell… and even taste. Now, it’s your turn to step into his shoes. Begin with a 1-hour guided tour through Edinburgh’s hidden underground streets, before joining a hands-on workshop where you’ll put your senses to the test. Analyse samples, follow Dr Arnott’s methods, and create your own herbal remedy in this interactive and entertaining experience. It’s historical, it’s hands-on, and yes… it’s a little bit pee-culiar. Includes: • 1-hour guided tour • 30-minute interactive workshop • 1 hot drink Good to know: • Suitable for ages 5+ (no under 5s) • Audio guides available for the tour (not the workshop) • Tickets are non-transferable and non-changeable
