After an outstanding run last winter, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) will again be transforming the zoo from November 2026 to February 2027 with a cosmic glow up of colour, creativity and wonder. Over 600 lanterns will shine a light on incredible wildlife with an interstellar twist, from celestial planets to galactic jungles. Visitors can expect to be transported on a spectacular journey through the milky way, where out of this world creatures explore glittering galaxies in a mile-long nocturnal trail. Edinburgh Zoo's Giant Lanterns will engage visitors of all ages with animals and science in a fun, memorable way, supporting the wildlife conservation charity’s vital ongoing efforts to protect, value and love nature. Perfect for families, couples and anyone looking for a unique night out, Edinburgh Zoo’s Giant Lanterns is more than a light trail – it is an immersive experience designed to inspire awe and spark curiosity about the universe and our place within it!
