About This Event

The Institut Francais d Ecosse in Edinburgh will host a screening of the film Sentimental Value by Joachim Trier. The story follows a stage actress and her sister as they reunite with their estranged father.

Reinsve plays Nora, a successful stage actress who, along with her sister Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas), reunites with their estranged father Gustav Borg (a mesmerising Stellan Skarsgård) – a once-renowned film director planning a major comeback with a script based on his family. When Gustav offers Nora the lead role, which she promptly declines, he turns his attention to Rachel Kemp (Elle Fanning), an eager young Hollywood starlet primed for her big breakthrough. Following the success of The Worst Person in the World, Joachim Trier reunites with Renate Reinsve for this profoundly moving film – winner of the Grand Prix award at Cannes – that explores sisterhood, father-daughter relationships and the power of childhood memories.
