Mindful metal foil embossing workshop at Dr Neil’s Garden, creating beautiful botanical and folk-inspired decorations to keep or gift.
Join me at Dr Neil’s Garden on the edge of Duddingston Loch in Edinburgh, for a relaxing and mindful workshop, creating a range of decorations by embossing metal foil. We’ll create a few beautiful hanging pieces in various sizes, using warm-toned brass metal foil, or you can also make your pieces into special card decorations.
Decorative hangings aren’t just for Christmas and with that in mind, we’ll have a range of objects to inspire you, including things collected from the garden, folk art, as well as leaves, flowers and animals. You are of course also welcome to come to class with your own ideas in mind!
Metal foils are versatile, enabling you to cut your designs with scissors and emboss your designs with specialist tools or simply with pencils and biros, as you are drawing your designs directly into the metal. Once you have explored the processes, you can continue making further designs at home.
Your decorations will look lovely at home, or if you can bear to part with them, they’ll make great gifts for family and friends. This workshop will suit people with a range of experiences and all levels of ability, although everyone must be over the age of 18.
These classes are running alongside Alloyed Collective’s show, ‘Tonic.’, at Thomson’s Tower in the garden. All our tutors are taking part in the show, so if you’d like to see more of their work, please pop by!
We’re also offering 10% off any sales in the shop for people attending classes.
To see our full programme of shows, please visit our social media @AlloyedCollective, or visit the Dr Neil’s Garden website. You’re also welcome to get in touch for more information.
