About This Event

A guided walk through Cramond Village and the Roman Fort is scheduled for 15 August 2026, departing from The Maltings Museum in Edinburgh at 10:30. The fort was built around 142AD as part of the Antonine Wall.

Join us for a guided walk through Cramond Village and the Roman Fort. The fort was built around 142AD as an outlier of the Antonine Wall and was later used as a base during Emperor Septimius Severus's campaigns in the north. We'll also explore the 18th-century village, taking in the Kirk, Kirkyard, Manse, and the lairds' mansions, and see how the area developed over the centuries. Please pre-book your place with admin@cramondheritage.org.uk Our guides are volunteers, but a donation of £5.00 per adult would help keep our Exhibition Centre open (accompanied children under 16 go free). The walks last about 90 minutes and begin at our permanent Exhibition Centre in Cramond village, The Maltings Please note: as we cannot check whether other walkers are comfortable with dogs, we ask that you don't bring your dog on this walk Please book by emailing admin@cramondheritage.org.uk Image Credit: Antonia Reeve 2015 & City of Edinburgh
