A community walk around the Bonnington area of Edinburgh - local history, nature and art
We will meet at Bonnington Toll, on the Rosebank corner ///poetic.drive.drew and visit sites of mills (including the early Chancelot Mill), cottages of the linen and wool workers, the areas known as Bonnytoun and Bonnyhaugh, find out the origins of local street names, and take in the Water of Leith where women bleached the linen, what was Mill Lade and St Cuthbert’s Well.
A donation towards this event will be used to find research and preparation time. Even if free tickets are sold out, you will still be able to book a donation ticket.
This walk is open to adults, children (accompanied by an adult) and dogs. Please wear suitable clothing and shoes, and bring water to drink. Pavement walking that should be suitable for wheels too.
This is a Walk Club Edinburgh event. New members welcome.
