Join us on our new walking tour, 'EMS: Worlds of Change', specially created for the Edinburgh Medical School’s 300th anniversary.
Alumnus and tour guide Dr Moray Grigor will take you along two intertwined narrative arcs as you travel through university campus from Old College to George Square. Our start point is the early 19th century, and formal medical education is still an exclusively white and male preserve. However, by the mid 20th C, Black and Indian EMS alumni are not only succeeding in medical practice but leading political movements and even whole nations, and Edinburgh trained Women doctors are bringing a progressive, strongly feminist dynamic to the profession, here in Edinburgh and around the world. Hear the stories of some of the talented and supremely determined young people who changed their worlds and ours on this fascinating tour.
