Looking for a relaxing, mindful past time which will stop you from doom scrolling & leave you feeling calm & relaxed. Join us & learn about the Japanese mending art - Sashiko. £55pp all materials incl Discover the beauty and quiet rhythm of Sashiko, the traditional Japanese art of decorative stitching. Originally developed centuries ago to reinforce and repair everyday textiles, Sashiko has evolved into a celebrated embroidery technique known for its striking geometric patterns, mindful repetition, and deep connection to Japanese culture. In this welcoming workshop, you'll be introduced to the history and philosophy of Sashiko, exploring the meaning and symbolism behind a selection of traditional patterns while learning the essential stitching techniques that make this heritage craft so distinctive. Guided step-by-step by your experienced tutor, you'll practise the signature running stitch before creating your own embroidered piece to take home. As your confidence grows, you'll have the opportunity to combine traditional motifs or develop your own contemporary design inspired by this timeless craft.
