About This Event

READERS 3.2 will be held at Tills Bookshop in Edinburgh on 25 October 2026. This literary gathering is a friendly reading group exploring photography and visual culture as part of a collaboration with the venue.

READERS is a friendly and accessible reading group exploring photography & visual culture.

As part of our collaboration with Tills Bookshop on the Readers of Edinburgh competition, we are delighted to be hosting a session of the bookshop's regular Bookless Bookclub for this year's READERS.

We will be choosing the texts with our usual focus on photography and visual culture and, as per their usual format, there is no prior reading to be done before the meet-up! We will all read it together on the day and then wrangle, discuss and unpick the texts afterwards as a group. No Homework Required!

We know how tricky it can be to find time to read the text, understand the text and feel prepared enough to then come along to a group and talk about it. READERS was designed with this in mind, and seeks to be accessible, regardless of academic background, and to create a space that feels safe and comfortable enough to read and discuss a text even if (and especially if!) you've struggled with its content.

The Bookless Bookclub echos that same ethos and is a perfect entry way into a reading group and, hopefully, be inspired to keep up the reading.

You will also get a chance to see the exhibition of the winners of the READERS of EDINBURGH competition, that will be on show in the shop from October through to the end of the year.

About Tills //

Established in 1985 by Rick and Ann Till, Tills Bookshop is one of Edinburgh's oldest surviving second-hand bookshops. Overlooking the Meadows park, their wee shop has carved out a small literary corner in Edinburgh's South Side. When Rick and Ann retired, the shop was taken over and renovated in 2019 by Kate and Joshua McNamara.

The shop is very small, but they've crammed it with a wide ranging library of beautiful books to serve the voracious readers of Edinburgh.

Open seven days a week, with a big selection of literary fiction, both contemporary and classic, quirky sci-fi, history and biography, philosophy and sociology, and the odd antiquarian gem. There are a few seats, and staff ready for all manner of bookish chats.

About The Bookless Bookclub //

With Bookless Bookclub, there’s nothing to read in advance. A facilitator brings a constellation of short texts — fiction, poetry, theory, song lyrics, visual art — and we read them together, in the room. Then we talk about them.

That’s it. No preparation, no homework, no book purchase, and no prior knowledge required. We turn up, we sit together, we read together, we discuss together.

It’s free to attend, and open to anyone.

Ticketing //
