RSNO: Brahms’ Violin Concerto

The RSNO will perform Brahms' Violin Concerto at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh on 23 October 2026, accompanied by Finnish classics from Saariaho and Sibelius. A pre-concert talk begins at 6.45pm for ticket holders, and the concert has a running time of approximately 2 hours including a 20-minute interval.
With some pieces, you just want to close your eyes and let your imagination paint a picture. For our Finnish guest conductor Emilia Hoving, it’s all about the landscape of the far North: lakes, forests, midnight sunlight and the shimmering wonder of the Northern Lights. So let your ears do the gazing in Finnish classics by Saariaho and Sibelius – and join RSNO Leader Maya Iwabuchi on an autumn getaway to the Austrian Alps, in Brahms’ magnificent Violin Concerto. Gain insight into the music with our musicians at the pre-concert talk at 6.45pm in the Upper Circle Bar in Edinburgh and the Clyde Foyer in Glasgow. Free to ticket holders. The running time of this concert is approximately 2 hours, including a 20-minute interval.
