Join novelist and poet Charlie Roy for an evening of poetry and conversation celebrating her new companion pamphlets, 'Grit' and 'Flesh'

Join novelist and poet Charlie Roy for an evening of poetry and conversation celebrating her new companion pamphlets, Grit and Flesh (Red Squirrel Press). Moving from girlhood in southern Spain to motherhood in Scotland, the poems explore family, faith, place, inheritance and the landscapes we carry within us. Charlie will read from both collections, talk about the stories behind them, and discuss her journey as a writer and publisher. There will be an opportunity for questions, conversation and signed copies of the books.

Charlie Roy is a Scottish novelist, poet and publisher based in Edinburgh. Her debut novel, The Broken Pane (Leamington Books), explores three generations of women navigating family, motherhood and mental health. Her companion poetry pamphlets, Grit and Flesh (Red Squirrel Press), trace a journey from girlhood in southern Spain to motherhood in Scotland. Charlie has performed at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe and the BBC Slam, and her poem Night Feed was recently selected as The Scotsman's Poem of the Week. She is Head of Publishing Programme at Stewed Rhubarb, where she commissions and publishes new writing.
