A women's history walking tour in Edinburgh where every woman you will hear about is called Mary!

There are so many women in history who have fascinating stories to hear about, it can be a bit overwhelming and hard to remember who they are. So why not make it simple by coming on a tour where every woman mentioned was called Mary?!

Starting at Buccleuch Place, Ruth will lead you on a walk that takes in the University of Edinburgh, George IV Bridge, parts of the Royal Mile, Royal Scottish Academy, parts of the New Town, and ending at St Andrews Square, telling you about Marys who owned businesses, wrote books, painted pictures, thought about things deeply and much more.

The tour will take two and half hours (150mins) in total, and will be outside with no shelter so please wrap up according to the weather conditions! There will be no toilet stops and very few seats along the way.

Where and when do we meet?

Please meet on Buccleuch Place, near the back of the University library building.

Where will we finish?

We will finish at St Andrews Square.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, phone ticket is fine.

Taking part in the tour means you are participating at your own risk. If you have pre-existing conditions that may be relevant or feel unwell during the tour, please let your guide know. You are also responsible for looking after your own belongings.
