“Why Are We Waiting?”

Have waiting times for mental health support in Edinburgh impacted you?

Is your mental health affected by uncertainty whilst waiting for support?

How can we work together to make waiting more survivable?

This conference is for people with lived experience of a mental health issue living in Edinburgh and the Lothians, to come together and talk about topics which interest and affect them. This year we will be talking about waiting.

We’ll be discussing long waiting lists; how they impact people, how we manage waiting and what could be done by services and in our communities to improve things while people wait.

If you’ve got experience of mental health issues come along to meet like-minded folk, have a nice lunch and talk about how things can be better. You will have a chance to share your experiences and hear from others in a variety of ways throughout the day. You will also get to collaborate with others about ideas for improvement, share these directly with NHS planners, and the chance to take ideas for change forward with the support of CAPS Independent Advocacy, if you would like too.

The day will run from 10.00am to 4:30 pm, with coffee/tea served from 9.30am. Lunch will also be provided. The venue is accessible, and please contact CAPS before hand if you would like more information about the day, the venue, or we can make it easier for you to attend.

Booking is essential. Tickets are restricted to one per person, you're welcome to book on behalf of others but you'll need to book separate tickets with their contact details, with their permission. We'll remind you about the event one week before and we ask that if you're no longer able to attend you cancel your ticket so that we're able to offer the tickets to others. This really helps us to continue offering free-to-attend events.
