Pick armfuls of jewel-coloured flowers in a hidden field on a working Scottish Borders farm. Location revealed when you book. Limited dates. There's a field on our farm we've never shown anyone. Now we're letting a few people in. Somewhere in the hills of Hillhouse Farm, near Lauder in the Scottish Borders, a five-minute farm track leads to the Secret Flower Field: a field sown especially for picking, ablaze with cornflower, corn marigold, poppy, cosmos, candytuft and more. A mosaic of bright, jewel-box colour, with the muted tones of the hills all around, and the exact location revealed only when you book. How it works Your ticket admits one car and everyone in it (£10). You'll drive through the farm, park, and walk over to our converted-horsebox welcome point. Choose your picking vessel there: four sizes, from £5 up to £25, including a children's cup. We hand you snips (children's snips for small hands), and the field is yours: wander, gather, and take your time creating the perfect posy, or fill a whole bucket. When you're done, return your snips and add water to your vessel, so your flowers travel home with a drink. Sessions Morning sessions run 10am to 12 noon, afternoon sessions 2pm to 4pm. Please arrive within the first hour of your session (by 11am or 3pm): we're at the end of a single-track farm road and arrivals are staggered to keep it flowing. Please exit the farm within 30 minutes of your session's end time. While you're here Our small café in the hay shed serves tea, coffee, cakes and soft drinks, and there's a picnic area if you'd rather bring your own. You'll see a real working farm all around you: oats growing, Aberdeen Angus cattle and Highland cows in the hills, kunekune pigs, and the honey bees working the flowers alongside you. Dogs are welcome on short leads. Know before you book This is a real field on a real working farm: wear wellies or sturdy boots and dress for the weather. The exact location and directions arrive with your booking confirmation. Screenshot them: phone signal is patchy in the hills. The ground is rough. Standard wheelchairs will struggle; please contact us before booking and we'll do everything we can to help. Children are very welcome and under-12s must be supervised at all times. Card and contactless payments only at the field. We stay open in ordinary Scottish weather. If we must close for safety, everyone booked is rebooked or refunded in full, announced by 8am that day. Otherwise tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, so choose your session carefully. These aren't wildflowers: they're a crop, sown by us especially for picking, from flowers that grew alongside Britain's grain fields for thousands of years. That's why you can gather every stem with a clear conscience, while the true wildflowers in our hedgerows and meadows stay where they belong, with the butterflies and the bees. When the flowers finish, so does the season. Limited dates, limited numbers each session.
