Trowers & Hamlins:
Trowers & Hamlins is an international law firm with over 170 partners and more than 1000 people located across the UK, Middle East and Asia.
As the South West office of an international full-service law firm, we are embedded in the local business community whilst being able to seamlessly access the breadth of our national and international experience and specialisms. Our Exeter office is home to a team of more than 160, led by 22 partners.
A range of people from Trowers will attend highlighting the breadth of our full- service legal support in the South West. This will include the following speakers:
Dominic Ring, Senior Associate in the Corporate team who specialises in advising start-up and growth companies on investment, M&A and corporate governance matters.
Charlotte Jones, Senior Associate in the Commercial team who advises client companies on their business contracts, including supply arrangements for goods and services, and brand, distribution, and licensing agreements.
Kelly Brown, Partner in the Real Estate, Investment and Development team who specialises in all aspects of commercial real estate investment and portfolio management, with a particular focus on commercial real estate finance and secured lending.
Ian Brown, Partner in the Insurance Disputes team who is an expert in insurance disputes, insurance recoveries and professional negligence claims against insurance brokers. Ian also advises businesses on risk management and avoidance, liability claims and disputes.
Tom Stephenson, is a Senior Associate in the Emplyment team and advises a wide range of employers across the country on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
Exe Insurance:
At Exe Insurance, we are focused on supporting innovative and growing businesses by helping them navigate the risks and challenges that come with operating in fast-moving sectors.
We are keen to expand into the life sciences and technology sector as we feel it is a sector lacking specialist knowledge and our move to the Science Park along with mixing with the ESP community will give us the best opportunity to do this. We continuously assess evolving risks, regulatory changes, market trends, and insurer appetite, allowing us to provide practical advice and tailored protection that evolves alongside a business.
For early stage companies, this can be especially valuable. Start-ups and scale-up businesses often face unique challenges, from securing appropriate cover for new technologies and intellectual property, to managing cyber exposure, professional liabilities, and investor or contractual requirements. We help simplify these complexities and ensure businesses have insurance solutions that support growth rather than create barriers.
We also actively engage with insurer research initiatives, industry forums, and professional bodies to stay ahead of developments in areas such as cyber risk, data protection, environmental risk, and professional liability. This ongoing insight enables us to continually refine our advice and support services, helping businesses access informed guidance and suitable protection as they grow.
As part of our commitment to supporting the Exeter Science Park community, we also plan to run regular drop-in sessions for tenants. These sessions will provide an informal opportunity for businesses to ask questions, seek guidance, discuss insurance considerations, and gain practical advice relevant to their stage of growth whether that is understanding key risks, reviewing existing arrangements, or simply having access to a knowledgeable sounding board.
As part of the Exeter Science Park community, we look forward to building relationships with fellow tenants and supporting businesses at every stage of their journey.
