Dorset's Patron Saint - Ancient Pilgrimage - Holy Wells - Jurassic Coast!

Join Sarah on Sunday 13th September for this special walk which follows in the footsteps of St Wite, Dorset's very own patron saint.

St Wite, a healer, protector and defender - a saxon saint who is venerated in the church at Whitchurch Canonicorum. The church is also referred to as The Cathedral of the Vale. She was murdered by vikings and sainted by Alfred the Great. During the medieval period her relics were one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in England. Pilgrimages have taken place here for 1000 years. The church is the only parish church housing an intact shrine. Her remains survived Henry VIII's dissolution and Cromwell's campaigns!

The walk culminates in ascending the Jurassic Coast's highest peak!

Please meet at the Five Bells Inn, Whitchurch Canonicorum (///unsightly.resold.privately) at 10am.

We'll take a picnic lunch at the top of Golden Cap (please bring food to share) and those that wish to stay on for drinks and pub grub at the Five Bells Inn after the walk will be very welcome.
