'Voices of the garden' immersive audio trail at Greenway

About This Event

"As air raids shake Britain’s cities, the country estate of crime writer Agatha Christie has become a home for child evacuees. Nora, aged ten, has recently arrived from London, on a train with a cardboard suitcase and a gas mask. Today she’s being shown around by Tom, a gardener who not only knows Greenway’s stories, but how to tap into the garden’s hidden voices." Inspired by the real story of Greenway during the Second World War, HistoryScapes is a free app that takes users on a GPS-triggered trail at Greenway, connecting visitors to the garden’s heritage. Created by the University Of Exeter in partnership with the National Trust, the trail is led by a fictional historical figure and inspired by Greenway’s story, offering a ‘living history’ format to give you a sense of having one foot in the past, the other in the present. To experience the immersive trail, download the 'HistoryScapes' app on a smartphone from the app store, or scan the QR code displayed onsite at Greenway during your visit. Download the Greenway trail, and when you're in the main courtyard, click start to begin.
