Winter Solstice Goddess Sculpture Workshop
Join local artist Helen McCormick for a relaxed, creative day at Nancy Potter House in Topsham.
Celebrate the Winter Solstice by sculpting your own beautiful Goddess figure, inspired by the changing seasons, nature and the ancient symbolism of the feminine divine. Using traditional hand-building techniques, you will create a unique ceramic sculpture to mark the return of the light.
About the Workshop
Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to develop your pottery skills, this workshop offers a friendly and supportive space to explore your creativity. During the session, I will guide you step-by-step through the process of hand-building your own Winter Solstice Goddess sculpture using clay.
Inspired by ancient Goddess figurines, seasonal traditions and the natural world, you will have the opportunity to personalise your sculpture with decorative details, textures and patterns. We will explore simple sculpting techniques to bring your Goddess to life, creating a unique piece that celebrates the Winter Solstice and the cycle of nature.
The focus of the day is on learning new skills, meeting like-minded people and, most importantly, enjoying the creative process. No previous pottery experience is necessary, and you will be encouraged to develop your own interpretation of the Goddess.
What’s Included
All clay, tools and equipment.
Tea and coffee provided throughout the day.
Professional kiln firing of your finished sculpture.
What to Bring
A packed lunch.
An apron and old clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty.
The Firing Process & Collection
After the workshop, I will take your sculpture to my studio to be kiln-fired. Your finished piece will be carefully dried and fired to ensure it is durable and ready to display.
Collection: Your work will be ready to collect from Nancy Potter House approximately 6 weeks after the workshop. I will contact you with specific dates and times.
Please note: Finished work can be stored for up to 6 months before being donated to charity or disgarded.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
I understand that plans can change, but as a small micro business (only me), last-minute cancellations are difficult to fill. My policy is as follows:
14 days or more before the event: Full refund of the ticket price provided.
3 to 13 days before the event: Refund of the ticket price OR a ticket transfer to a future workshop of the same value ONLY if I am able to fill your space.
2 days (48 hours) before the event: No refunds or transfers can be offered.
If I have to cancel the workshop for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
