Terryland Forest Park was established as a native woodland in 2000. But as with parks, hedgerows, waterways and forests across Ireland, it has suffered from an invasion of overseas species that are threatening the very survival of indigenous ecosystems.
Ten years ago, this park comprised largely native trees and wildflowers supporting native fungi and fauna. But in the last few years we've witnessed an unprecedented number of alien species appearing that are squeezing its native wildlife out.
Japanese Knotweed, which came into the park twelve years ago, has now been joined by other fast spreading invaders such as Winter Heliotrope, 3-Cornered Leek, Rufus Tricolour, Crocosmia and Pendulous Sedge.
Invasive species-along with the Climate Crisis, habitat loss & pollution-are the primary causes of the global Biodiversity Crisis.
So help turn the tide to protect the flora & fauna that call Terryland Forest Park home.
