On 18 October 2026, An Seomra Yoga in Galway hosts a Yoga & Creative Writing Workshop featuring various performers. The session invites participants to calm their inner river before writing about what they discover underwater. Attendees will pay €28.00 to join the event at this literary gathering.
Calm your inner river and write about what you find underwater.
About the Workshop
During this 2h-workshop you will practice yoga to relax and cultivate your mindfulness, in order to find sources of inspiration and set yourself up for creative writing.
Like the chapters of a book, the workshop is divided into five parts, each one composed of a yoga practice (guided meditation, breathing, vinyasa flows), an inspiring reading, a creative writing excercise, and a time for optional sharing.
We will go through specific techniques and concepts that will help you to open the door to your imagination, change the way you see things, challenge yourselves, show honesty, and share.
The group size is limited to ensure space for moving, and quality time for writing, reading and listening.
Requirements: All levels are welcome, but it is recommended that you have tried yoga before.
Equipments: Wear comfortable clothes suitable for yoga practice. Bring your own pen and notebook. Yoga mats and props are available at the studio.
Your Teachers
Alice Camugli is a certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher. She practiced yoga for 10 years amid the hustle and bustle of Paris, where it was essential to slow down, breathe, ground in the present moment, and reconnect with the body and mind. She has been living in Glaway for the past two years and now teaches yoga at the An Seomra Yoga studio on Saturday mornings. For her, yoga is not about performance but about better understanding and controlling of the body, breath, and mind, with kindness.
Esperanza Anson is an English Philologist and published poet (Las estaciones azules, 2021), originally from Madrid. She spent over a decade working as a language teacher in secondary education before she decided to undertake an MA in Writing this autumn. Just as it happens with yoga, for her, writing begins with presence and the ability to notice little things, like the change of light at sunset, the sound of the wind among the leaves, the beauty in an ordinary moment. In this workshop, she will invite participants to approach writing as an act of attention and discovery: a space to breathe, notice, feel and allow language to emerge from the depths of the soul.
