About This Event

The film Amanda will be screened at The Social Hub Glasgow on 24 October 2026, focusing on the journey of an artist who uses her work to confront a painful past. The screening will include a Q&A session with Amanda Cullen, providing insight into her experiences and artistic expression. This event is part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival's Focus on Film programme.

Amanda has painted in isolation for years, using art as both expression and refuge. Now, she must face the challenge of speaking out about a painful past she wishes to leave behind. Once institutionalised and silenced, she reclaims her narrative through her unique artworks, evoking the chaos of her experience and marked by scars that mirror her own. As she prepares for her first retrospective, she navigates the vulnerability of sharing both her art and truth. Preceded by a short film from Chance 2 Change. Includes a Q&A with Amanda Cullen, co-presented with VOX Scotland as part of SMHAF's Focus on Film programme.
