One of contemporary folk's most compelling emerging voices

Bess Atwell brings her intimate and emotionally resonant songwriting to Glasgow for an evening of atmospheric indie folk. Known for pairing deeply personal lyrics with delicate, expansive arrangements, Atwell creates songs that feel both introspective and universally relatable. Her music blends folk-rooted craftsmanship with subtle electronic textures and dreamlike soundscapes, allowing her expressive voice to take centre stage.

Audiences can expect a performance rich in warmth and vulnerability, where thoughtful storytelling unfolds through beautifully crafted melodies and understated musicianship. Drawing from acclaimed releases including Light Sleeper, her songs explore themes of self-discovery, mental health and human connection with honesty and grace. Influenced by the songwriting traditions of artists such as Joni Mitchell and the atmospheric folk sensibilities of Fleet Foxes, Atwell's live performances balance quiet reflection with moments of emotional lift.
