Join us at Maryhill Burgh Halls to explore the Clyde blitz and its impact on the people who lived through it.

Come to Maryhill Burgh Halls for the fourth talk in our new monthly series Connected Community.

Did you know Maryhill and the surrounding area were part of one of the most heavily targeted regions in Scotland during the Second World War?

Join us at Maryhill Burgh Halls for a fascinating talk exploring the story of the Luftwaffe's bombing campaign on the Clydeside, and what it meant for the people who lived through it. Marc Conaghan will take us through the history, the impact on local communities, and the stories that don't always make it into the textbooks.

Come along to learn something new and enjoy soup and a sandwich.

Marc Conaghan holds a Master’s degree in Conflict Archaeology from University of Glasgow, where his research focused on the anti-aircraft defences of Clydeside during the Second World War. He then went on to undertake PhD research until Covid scuppered that plan. His research examines the Luftwaffe attacks on Clydeside, with a particular focus on the bombing campaigns of 1941 and their impact on Clydeside and the wider region. His work explores wartime landscapes, civilian experience, air defence systems, and the lasting memory of the Clydeside Blitz.

We don’t want cost to be a barrier to participation, therefore we are offering a range of pricing.

Please choose the one that is most relevant to you. All donations go directly to Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust (Scottish registered charity number SC036089) and allow us to provide a greater range of community events, accessible to all.
