Speculative Futures Central Scotland invites you on a Deep Time Walk: a 4.6km journey through Glasgow Green and along the river that retraces the entire 4.6-billion-year history of planet Earth, one step at a time.

The Deep Time Walk is an audio-guided walk in which every metre you cover represents roughly a million years of Earth's history. As you walk, narration takes you from the planet's formation through the moon's origin, the Great Oxidation Event, and the rise of multicellular life — right up to the final twenty centimetres, which stand for the whole of human existence. It's a simple, physical way to feel the scale of deep time rather than just think about it, and a good prompt for thinking differently about our place within it. We'll walk as a group, sharing a speaker if we're small, or the app itself if we're a bigger crowd so everyone can listen on their own device.
