Tangerine Dream are an electronic music group founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese in Berlin. Their groundbreaking record Phaedra, released in 1974, reached gold status in the UK, and was the band's first success on the Virgin Records label. The recording became a milestone in electronic music.
Since their formation Tangerine Dream released more than one hundred albums. Their early 'Pink Years' albums had a pivotal role in the development of Krautrock. These and later albums were influential in the development of electronic dance music.
Although the group released numerous studio and live recordings, a substantial number of their fans were introduced to Tangerine Dream by their film, TV and video game soundtracks, which total over sixty and include Sorcerer (William Friedkin), Thief (Michael Mann), Risky Business, The Keep, Firestarter, Legend (Ridley Scott), Near Dark (Kathryn Bigelow), Shy People, Miracle Mile. In recent years the group composed the original score to Rockstar video game Grand Theft Auto 5 & featured in Stranger Things.
In total, Tangerine Dream have received seven Grammy nominations for their unique compositions over the last few decades.

‘Tangerine Dream .. beautiful as Bach.’ The Los Angeles Times
‘They are far away from any conventional music philosophy ...’ David Bowie
Why do we have a restoration Levy?
Put very simply, our restoration levy is an additional charge added to your ticket price which is directly invested back into the venue. This money is used for critical maintenance, repairs, and preservation efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of the building. As the 3rd oldest church building in Glasgow, dating back to 1836, Saint Luke's requires ongoing care and special restoration to maintain its historic character and facilities. This levy will enable us to fund essential projects that will safeguard the venue's future as a vibrant hub for live music and community events.
If you would like to be kept up to date on progress with how we are using this fund then please follow us on social media @stlukesglasgow, and sign up to our mailing list where we will send out quarterly updates on the improvements that your donations are helping us make.
