About the venue: An Irish pub rated 4.3 from nearly 5,910 reviews, mid-priced, open midday to 11pm Monday to Thursday. It is listed as a live music and event venue. The room is the notable thing: reviewers describe a multi-level warren of staircases and carved woodwork salvaged from churches, repeatedly comparing it to something from Lord of the Rings. That layout means several distinct areas, useful for a group, though it can make finding people harder.

Getting there: About as central as Glasgow gets: Buchanan Street subway is a minute from the door and Queen Street station two minutes, giving direct trains to Edinburgh and the north. Glasgow Central is a five-minute walk for west coast mainline services. With that level of connection, and city-centre parking costs, arriving by train or subway is the obvious choice.
