Join us for the first concert of the season at Jordanhill Parish Church! We are delighted to welcome Kerry Lazzaretti (Flute) and Gwen Màiri (Harp) for an evening of classical, jazz and Celtic music. Admission by (cash) donation, all are welcome. Kerry Lazzaretti is a Scottish flautist, whistle and bodhrán player, based in Glasgow. She performs as one half of JKL DUO alongside her husband, guitarist Jacopo Lazzaretti, a partnership that has taken flute and guitar into new territory, blending classical, folk, jazz and world influences across two albums, The International Poet and Joy. The duo has performed at festivals and venues including Buxton International Festival, Celtic Connections, Skye Chamber Music, Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival, St Giles’ at Six in Edinburgh, and Usher Hall’s Emerging Artists Series with Live Music Now Scotland, and have been praised for their “remarkable assurance and infallible ensemble playing” (Cowal Music Club), with playing described as combining “virtuosity with warmth, imagination and an engaging stage presence.” JKL DUO are represented by Classical Musicians Scotland, and are artists for Live Music Now Scotland. Kerry is currently completing a Masters in Performance Psychology at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, researching musical performance anxiety, flow and improvisation. Her research and performing practice are deeply intertwined: she’s fascinated by what happens when musicians move from playing to prove themselves into playing to express themselves, and how improvisation can facilitate that shift. Alongside performing, Kerry teaches flute at Kelvinside Academy and co-runs JKL DUO Studio, where she brings the same philosophy to her students: that confidence and artistry come not from technical perfection, but from genuine connection to one’s own creative voice. Gwen Màiri is a graduate of the RSAMD. Her varied freelance career includes performing at events, festivals and work with professional orchestras. Recent highlights include the Tour de France launch event at Edinburgh Castle, Dior Cruise 25 at Drummond Castle, a travelling residency as part of the British Underground delegation to Womex 25 in Finland and the launch of the Richard Mille Cup 2026 at Culzean Castle. Most recently, Gwen’s voice could be heard singing the Welsh language contribution for the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. Gwen has released two of her own albums (Mentro and Douze Noëls) and is also one third of the Gwilym Bowen Rhys Trio. An enthusiastic educator, Gwen Màiri has a wealth of harp teaching experience at schools, universities, in workshops and on courses. She has published four collections of traditional music for harp and her arrangements and compositions are included in syllabuses for ABRSM, Trinity, the Royal National Mòd and RCS graded exams
