About This Event

Smoke and Mirrors is a community film screening and talk, taking place on 24 September 2026 at SEIN Samaritan House in Glasgow. The event features speakers Neil Gray and Chris Murray and is organised by Living Rent.

Neil Gray is a writer, researcher, Living Rent member and lapsed filmmaker. He is the editor of 'Rent and its Discontents' (2018) and author of 'Take Over the City' (2026). In 'Smoke and Mirrors' ( 2006, 45 mins) he documented - with tenant involvement - the successful campaign to save 23,000 Edinburgh council houses from privatisation.

After the film Neil will be joined in an informal chat with housing activist and researcher, Chris Murray, who has been researching the stock transfer process in Scotland.
