Formed in Montreal, Quebec, in 2019, Spite House began as a personal outlet for vocalist and guitarist Max Lajoie. Joined by drummer Marc Tremblay and bassist Nabil Ortega, the trio developed an intense, melodic sound rooted in '90s post-hardcore, punk, and emo, taking cues from bands like Jawbreaker and Seaweed. Their 2022 self-titled debut album earned immediate attention across the alternative music scene for its raw vulnerability and driving guitar hooks. Signing to Pure Noise Records ahead of their follow-up album Desertion, the band has gained international momentum through cathartic live shows and extensive North American and European touring alongside acts like The Dirty Nil and Heart Attack Man.
